One of our young volunteers donated $40 to Kids Against Hunger of Central Texas, all he had earned from reading books for many weeks. This was an agreement Zack made with his mother who home schools him...an incentive to get him to read and a way for him to earn money. He chose to donate these dollars to his favorite charity. Probably no other donation we have received reflects a greater commitment to KAHCT than Zack’s.
Zachary Hunt, age 11, is a volunteer at the Kids Against Hunger of Central Texas satellite. He has a special bond with his grandfather, another of our volunteers, who brings Zack to packaging events as often as he has time to come. Except for lifting the heaviest sacks of soy or rice, this young man does all the jobs of any of the other volunteers . In fact, he has stated that he could give all the opening instructions to the new volunteers if our board members should be absent and there is no doubt that he could!!!
Now, doesn’t that just put a smile on your face and a renewed attitude in your heart about volunteering? Would that every satellite had dozens of volunteers with the eagerness to help others that we see in the life of our Zachary Hunt!!! What a guy!!!
